Hey guys, I'm FINALLY getting a Palm.
I want something that runs the Palm OS 3.5/4.0/4.1 doesn't matter much.
At least 8MB.
I was thinking either Palm m125 or the Sony PEG-SL10.
Palm m125 = $150 (with bestbuy discount =/ )
http://www.palm.com/products/palmm125/
Sony PEG-SL10 = $133 (with bestbuy discount)
http://www.sonystyle.com/micros/clie/sl10specifications/PEG-SL10.html
I need to use this PDA to stay organized, be more productive, put my homework and college schedule.
Anybody got any input? I'm buying this in about 1 week.
ps. I won't be too annoyed once the Palm OS 5.0 based PDAs come out right? They will be at least over $300 each probably...

You definetly have to get the m125 because of color. You will definetly not regret this. This is my only input, I owned a visor deluxe, and then about 6 months later bought a palm m505 because I wanted color and thinness.
+ you can sue palm after you get the m125 :P

But still, get an m130. I am telling you, you will not regret getting color. Try http://www.dell.com , they sometimes give 20% discounts. ALso try http://www.hotdealz.com for discounts on dell.com.
Budget smudget, get color.

Hey, if you are still not going to listen to me and get color then do the math and see if you can get a better deal if you bought your pda from staples.com

Either of your choices will work very nicely for your needs.
I am not familiar with the Sony. I had a M125 before upgrading to a M515.
The M125 has 160 x 160 resolution, excellent battery life (although not rechargeable) amd a good memory size.
I upgraded to the 515 mainly for the 16 mbytes of internal memory, largely because I was adding a number of applications that needed to be in RAM, or have data stored in RAM.
Color is nice, but it does drain the battery faster. I almost kept the 125 solely for travel purposes. You can buy AAA batteries almost anywhere in the world, and wouldn't need to keep a charger available.
You will probably want to look into some supplemental software and accessories as well. Two essentials for me are the Palm keyboard, and Wordsmith. Keep some money in your budget for the add-ons that will be important for you to achieve the maximum productivity and functionality possible from the unit. As a college student who is taking notes in classes, this could be very important.
It is for this reason that I personally would probably go with the Palm - you will have more diverse expansion/add-on options to help you meet your personal needs.
I doubt that OS 5 will add significant productivity features for you in the short term. In the intermediate to longer term (8 months to 2 years), it will, but by then you should have achieved a sufficient return on investment to justify the purchase of the current generation.
Good luck

well, hell.
2 new palms are coming out in October. The cheap $100 Palm comes out on October 7th...
now I have to wait until then to see if that one is worth it.
If not I will buy the Sony Clie PEG-SL20...

3 it looks like. But one runs 4.1 with 2 megs of ram and that will not appeal to you if you were looking for 8. Another one runs 5.0 but is also a phone, and then the last one runs 5.0 as well but im betting your going to be looking at a 450-500 price tag.

I way out of whack, and you'll probably get ripped off or something, but try ebay. You could probably get a good color 8mb 4.1 pda for about 150. Just be carefull...
