I'm having trouble with formatting my PDA hard drive. I posted a previous thread regarding this and it was suggested that I download Flash Format. Thanks for your help. I've tried this but where I'm trying to recover/format a 2 Gb HDD I've only managed to increase my storage card from 0.44mb to 0.46mb and I'm getting desperate. I'm another newbie with PDAs and don't know what else to do. I've used the default settings in the Flash Format and I've also used the suggested (marked with an asterix) settings. I've looked through the help files but I don't really know what I'm doing. Please help.

if you have a 2GB hard drive on your ipaq, it's a bit different from the memory you have on the ipaq itself... if you check out File Explorer, there should be something in there that says Storage Card. see if you can find your hard drive in there... if that doesn't work, throw it in a laptop or desktop and see if it works in there....

Thanks for your help - I've located the Storage Card on File Explorer but I don't know what to do next. I've tried clicking on it but it doesn't give me an option to format this.

there was no need to format mine, i just copied files right to it and it works!
once in a while when i put on the expansion set, it says it doesn't recognize the card and asks if i want to format it, but i say no and it still works anyways... just play round a bit, you'll get the hang of it!

Thank you for letting me know - but I'm afraid it's too late - I've already clicked 'yes' to that question. The previous owner of my HDD had my card all ready for use but when I saw that message on my Ipaq then I thought that I should click on 'yes' in order to be able to use it - oh well - we learn by our mistakes - thanks for your help.

Still trying to resolve the problem. I have tried formatting the disk using a laptop (someone from work let me try using a laptop that belonged to a colleague) but this didn't work. Someone else told me that it probably wouldn't - the format that I originally done probably partitioned the hard drive and I would need to restore it by taking out the partition. I understand that you can do this through something called fdisk but I cannot find where I can get this from. Does anyone have any ideas about partitioning software and where to get it/them?

I've found this program (Pixfer) after some playing around which seems to have sorted my card out. Take a look here http://www.glasslantern.com/products/Pixfer/index.htm

Phunkjunky-
you say laptop or desktop... I didn't know there were any desktops with pcmcia slots. Might mine have one in there somewhere?

most of the time you need an expasion slot, or something like a card reader that plugs in USB or something... every laptop i've ever seen has a pcmcia slot, so i guess that would be easier...
