Internet Explorer locks up

Howdy! Just a lurker with a quick question.

iPAQ 1910. Occasionally I open internet explorer and it tries to access my homepage (AvantGo). The littel world icon in the top right just spins and spins. If I hit "stop" and "refresh" I get a note saying "This URL is not properly formatted. Please verify that you have entered the adress correctly."

The problem is, it doesn't have anything to do with AvantGo. It does the same thing when I enter any address.

Of course I haven't changed anything from the last time, when it worked fine.

I called HP, and they said something the equivalent of the cache being full and do a soft reset whenever that happens.

Is there a better way to fix/avoid this?

I'm not sure what it is, but if HP were right, and if i understood them correctly, to clear the cache just open internet explorer and on the bar at the bottom, click Tools-Options, then Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files. Again, i'm not sure if that will help, hopefully it will.

I have one of the clean-up utilities that deletes temp. internet files, which doesn't help. But perhaps if I delete the history also...I'll try that next time.
