Hi, maybe someone can help.
I lost my Diamond Mako, and luckily I did backup my files to my IBM Thinkpad (Windows 2000). I just got a new Mako, and I've been trying to Restore the backups I have on my PC to my new Mako, but it's not working.

When I try to Restore (by right clicking the icon "My Epoc Machine" on my desktop, and then selecting "Restore") it tells me "No files have been backed up to this directory."

Hopefully I just need to choose the correct directory. I don't know how to determine which one it is though ... I have an "Epoc Mako" folder on my Desktop, and an "Epoc" folder on my C drive. Each has multiple files or folders, but how do I determine which file/path has my backups?!

Please give detailed feedback - I'm a rookie at working with files like this. Thank you!!!!

When you initially connected the second machine, you should have had the option of setting it up as a 'new' machine or 'existing' machine.

To be able to restore the first machine's backup to it, you should have selected existing machine so that it then replaced the original rather than becoming an additional Mako.

Disconnect it and then, in the PC, go to:

Start > Programs > PsiWin 2.3 > Machine Manager

and delete its configuration. Reconnect the new Mako, launch PsiWin and when you are given the option, set it as Existing machine. You should then be able to restore Mako 1's backup to Mako 2.

Mike - it worked! Thanks so much. I was able to recover my backed up files, thank heavens.

Now, though, I am having connection trouble. Isn't that weird? Sometimes it shows as Connected but other times the dialog box indicates it's really just 'trying' to connect. For this reason, so far I haven't been able to do a new backup...

I'm hoping I don't need to reinstall the software (I do have the CD if I need to). FYI there was a Utility driver that I had to download last year for Windows 2000, to be able to connect and backup my original Mako to my pc. It is called "uttpcw32.exe" and it's still on my machine, so I don't think I'd have to re-install it...

Actually, I think it has something to do with the Owner Information... I have a password to get in, and I changed the owner information, which does show up on the Machine Manager window, but I'm not sure what else would cause a connection problem here.

Any ideas? Thanks again for your help :))
