I hope I haven't posted this twice. This forum looks exactly like the Brighthand one that I just posted to.
Anyway...

Hi all.
This is driving me nuts!
I populated the autocard directory on either my 64meg viking cf card
or my scandisk 128meg cf card with apps and .dbs. All of the sudden
one of the apps shows up in ram as a 0k file. Once that happens I
can't always run that program. If I have autocard rescan then
megalauncher will show two versions of that app. If I go into
cardpro and try to delete the ram version I get the
message "Database: can't open (0x0206)." I tried deleting from built
in Delete in palm launcher. I tried changing attributes in filEZ or
ZarfCatalog. No luck and, in FilEZ, if I click "hide rom" the 0k
file disapears.
So I did a hard reset. Put everything back and all works well; for
awhile. Then the same thing happens, although to a different app.

Anybody have any ideas?
Do I have bad ram?

Thanks in advance.
Shawn

What version of AutoCard are you running? I'm running "2.0 beta 2".

Are you exceeding the AutoCard limits? I think you can have a maximum of 256 files in the AutoCard directory. I'm running with 221 files using 19MB on my 128MB CF.

Is EVERY file in the AutoCard directory a Palm database or application? If not then this will screwup AutoCard.

Are there any duplicates (apps or dbs)? I've had two databases with different names, but when in Palm RAM they were the same name (my fault for trying to keep an old backup copy).

Are there any duplicates of the files in Flash also in RAM? This one took me some time to figure out. Some apps will create their database in RAM when AutoCard is disabled. Some time after AutoCard is started you get weird crash problems. Sometimes these databases are 0k in RAM.

Are there any corrupted files? Try the old method of deleting 1/2 and see if problem still happens. Delete another 1/2,... repeat until no problem exists. The last cut will have your problem file. MAKE BACKUP BEFORE STARTING!

Are there any misbehaving apps? If you have a bad hack or app that does not like OS 3.5.3 A29 (This IS what you're running, I hope), then you might get strange problems.

I've seen weird behavior when I've had corrupted CF Card. I fixed by putting into CF reader on my PC and running scandisk on it (it found crossed linked files). Only other way to fix this type of corrpution is to FORMAT the card (BACKUP FIRST).

You can delete weird stuff from ram if you warm reset (hold PGUP, then press reset) to disable extensions and hacks. When done deleting, do a normal reset...
