try www.memoware.com for books, & www.freeware.palm for games and

http://www.palmblvd.com/articles/2003/4/2003-4-9-Mono-Games-Pack.html for a special Zire game pack only in B/W.

with only 2 megs on that thing you are gonna fill it fast, for about $50 more you coulda gotten a color unit with 8megs on it, and an expansion slot for memory cards & more..

good luck with that thing...dont expect too much from it, you will probably fill it up this weekend just loading games & books, I hope you actually didnt want to put data on it too.

All Palms/Handsprings/Toshibas/Sonys/Hp's etc come with a minimum of 8megs and most are in color....starting at about $150

Seems like you're facing the same plight as the owner of any new gadget or toy -- "what do I do first and where do I start?"

Hi blazindonge,

Isn't it great to have a new toy and be faced with the "what do I do first" crisis?

For entertainment purposes, look into the millions of games available for Palm handhelds. Palm Gear (www.palmgear.com) and Freeware Palm (www.freewarepalm.com) are good starting points.

For e-books, check out Palm Gear to download actual reader programs, such as Palm Reader, iSilo, and MobiPocket. For actual books, hit MemoWare, as rrfranczak3 suggested in the earlier post.

For further enhancements to the OS of your Palm, you can investigate the wonderful world of hacks -- as soon as you're comfortable with the operations of the Palm. An application like X-Master will allow you to install all sorts of hacks that customizes the unit to your liking. Run a search for "hacks" or "hackmaster" on Palm Gear.

Finally, don't be afraid to bring your questions here. We all started in your shoes.

Enjoy!

For e-books, you might want to check out Qvadis (http://www.qvadis.com) which has an ebook reader called Express Reader as well as a free library of about 7,000 e-books in the PalmDoc format. That should keep you busy for a long while!

Laughed when I saw the tire comment--I needed tires for my car, not knowing they were giving away a palm--also not ever touching a palm did I know what was about to happen!!
Let me tell you--I am hooked/addicted/need help soon--will need someone to take this palm zire away from me or else!! I have downloaded the zire 2 megs full one hundred million times (no readers/no games) I have a folder of apps to alternate downloads depending on my needs that day!! I have downloaded onto my palm 1000 files to try/bought way too many that can't even fit--
AND I want to say thank you that I know now that for about $150 I can actually get 8megs(oh my--that isa cool fantasy at the moment). AND in a couple months Iwill be getting an upgraded pda. WANT TO RECOMMEND THIS PALM ZIRE to newbies--and what can be better than FREE...oh and it is already nestled into a soft leather case......
