Hello, does anyone out there know how to change the operating system on a tungsten from chinese back into english?

My mother has a new palm that was operating in English. she was given a disc with it that was meant to teach Chinese - however, what it actually did was change the operating system to chinese.

It was possible to remove the chinese programs etc from our pc, but we`re not sure how to change back to english on the palm - because everything is in chinese now! HELP! Any suggestions?

Try doing a reset..below tells you 3 ways how. You might have to do a hard reset, in which case it doesn't matter about the language, just press the up button and tap "yes" or what ever the top option says (maybe in chinese)

1. A Soft Reset
2. A Warm Reset
3. A Hard Reset

Performing a Soft Reset:
1. Use the reset tip tool (see below), or the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip), to gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld. Palm V, Palm III (except for the IIIe), and Palm VII series handhelds: The metal stylus that comes with your handheld has a reset tip inside. To use it, unscrew the barrel from the stylus quill.

Performing a Warm Reset
1. Press and hold the Page Up button on your handheld.
2. Using the reset tip tool (or a similar object without a sharp tip), gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
3. When the Palm Computing Platform logo appears on the screen, release the Page Up button.

Performing a Hard Reset
With a hard reset, all records and entries stored in your handheld are erased. Formats Preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. You can restore any data previously synchronized with your computer during the next HotSync operation. You will need to re-install your 3rd party applications unless you are using Palm OS™ 3.3 or a third party backup solution that automatically backs up and restores installed applications. Never perform a hard reset unless a soft or warm reset does not solve your problem.

To perform a hard reset:
1. Hold down the power button on the front panel of the handheld.
2. While holding down the power button, use the reset tip tool (or similar object without a sharp tip), to gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
3. Release the reset button.
4. When the logo screen appears on the screen, release the green power button.
5. When the message appears on the handheld screen warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your handheld, do one of the following:
Press the upper half of the scroll button on the front panel of the handheld to complete the hard reset and display the Digitizer screen.
Pressing any other button will perform a soft reset.
