my palm IIIe died. I did a soft reset after getting a fatal fault message. I tried replacing with new batteries. I tried adjusting the display wheel, but nothing. Does not work either when I put it on cradle and try to hot sink. Can someone help?

There are two potential solutions:
1) If you have not done a hard reset, do so.
2) Take the back off the Palm and reseat the cable to the mother board. The cable will be fairly obvious and in the middle of the left side with a white plastic clip holding it.

Is it time for the movie "Dead Palm Walking." Be alert to the fact that the cable once it has had a taste of freedom will work its way lose again. In the III series the stylus runs into the ribbon cable and makes for a bad connection. I found a sterile saline solution packed in single dose plastic ampoules. These clear plastic dispensers are made of a very rigid plastic and the cylindrical portion of the dose dispenser is a perfect fit in the silo. I cut about a half inch section out of the cylinder and with the Palm back off wedged the cylinder into the silo putting continuous pressure on the cable/connector. Then a couple drops of Crazy glue and on goes the back and away goes the problem. The Palm original stylus is a tight fit but the LandsWare Stylus is at home.
