IMPATICA: HAS ANYBODY HAPPENED TO TRY IT?

One of the few - but by no means least - things I would love to have on my nB is surely a presentation software (sort of MS powerpoint).
Until now, I tried to do my best with programs such as pdf - or even converting files such as excel graphs into htm pages - and everything was quite fine.
Recently, after browsing on the psion teklogix partner pages, I came across this site called impatica.
According to these people, impatica for powerpoint should be a practical way to convert and reduce the size of a ppt presentation in order to visualize it in htm pages (opera), thanks to the java technology.
I have recently tried an evaluation copy on my home pc, and the conversion of one of my ppt files went quite fine: the majority of the animations of that file were also kept.
Unfortunately, as soon as I got this file on my nB the result was quite different.
in fact - at least in my particular case - the animations got messed each one on the previous ones, and the experiment ended unsuccessfully.
the subject is interesting indeed and I would like to know whether anybody has already tried such a software on the nB to understand what did not work for me.

PS: the license is surely not cheap (499 euro) but one may always HOPE that...

1) seeing many nBusers interested in it, the sw house might work a better deal for the psion nB community ...let me have just a positive attitude about this... ;-)

2) this sw will be available in some future restyling of the nB...

I tried the evaluation too and I had similar experience as you... Final result on nB is not worth dealing with Impatica.

Have tried also powerpoint presentation saved as web page, but nB Opera cannot handle it well.

I found the simple slideshow the best presentation method for nB :-)))

(so far...)

Beside the software problem (impatica, ppt or any other possible sw that might turn on/with the nB), how do you solve the necessary connection of the nB with a wide screen/display for a visual presentation?

using the VoyagerVGA PC Card and software from Colorgraphics.

Unfortunately they don't make this any more, and don't support EPOC with their new versions :(

I think some VoyagerVGAs are still in stock at colorgraphics.com, just ask them...

Actually, they DO still have some in stock. Ask Colorgraphic for the IPAQ or WinCE PCMCIA voyager card with the EPOC software package. All the cards are the same, they just come with different driver software +manual (which you can get from the web site anyway). Alternatively, look on ebay for a 2nd hand one - that's where I got mine (around US$60+P&P) - make sure it comes with the dongle!

I think I 'm right in saying that you have to download the SW from Psion rather than Colorgraphic. Anyway, lots of us have it - and the whole setup is pretty good

Does anyone know if the Compact Flash version works - with or without a PCMCIA-adapter?
