Help On My Palm

my palm m505 is not working....I cannot hotsync, i already download the latest version of palm desktop 4.1 and hotsync, also the driver but still its not working,

this problem occur when i upgrade my system to windows xp


pls help me.....

In order to HotSync, your account in Windows XP should have administrator privileges.

what ebisix means is that in Win XP, there are 2 ways of setting up an account, either as an Adminstrator or a Limited Use Account, Limited use accounts do not have the same priviledges as an Adminstrator, usually an administrator is the only one that has the "RIGHTS" to do updates on the hard drive ...etc. So when you boot up and before you log on, check to see how your account is set up, if you are already logged on, go to control panel, then user accounts and see how yours is set up. Also with Win XP you must make sure that your USB drivers for windows and for Palm exist in the c:\windows\system32 directory, I have seen that cause problems, I am assuming that you are using a USB connection??. Also checkl your Hotsync log and see what,if any messages are being generated

If you can install an application, I think that means you have administrator privileges.

In Windows 2000 I can hotsync without administrator profile, but I had first to change my account to administrator in order to install the software.
Then I performed the first hotsync in order to run the windows plug and play hardware installer (this action still needs to be carried with administrator profile, since it's "installing new hardware").
When that was done I was able to turn to "power users" profile instead of administrator, and it all worked fine!
When in power user profile you are able to install some programs. There are other programs (I can´t tell the difference between them...) You jus't can´t do it, without turning to administrator profile while installing.
Don't try to install the hotsync from accounts other than yours - it won't work...
