i STRONGLY RECOMMED the larger dell battery.....use the forums search engine to look at previous threads on this subject.

i have the larger dell battery i ordered another axim for the daughter and when you customize the axim online at dell you have the option to order the larger 3400 battery for $99 i returned the 2nd axim i orderd but kept the battery or call dell and ask them if you could add it tp your origional order for $99 either way with the returned shipping expense your only saving about 15 dollars

I have consistently used the large battery for 11 hrs a day constantly the screen is approx. at 2/5 to 3/5 brightness for three hours a day and additionally play mp3s for 8 hours with the screen brightness off for 8 hrs and my battery never EVER goes below 60% for this usage. I never have to worry about power....i have a 256 sd card and a 1gb cf card as well.

In my opinion it is well worth the convenience it is larger and bulkier and may not fit in standard slipper cases etc.

If you dont want to worry about power or recharging and dont mind the extra bulk GET IT

I agree 200%. Got a 3400 ma and can go 3 days of heavy use without a hitch. Recharge time is fast, too. Well worth the $99.

I ordered the big battery when I got tired of my Axim being either dead or "full."
The ROM update posted while I was waiting for the battery to ship. Battery life has been fine since the update.
The big battery is a BIG battery. (So much so that the Axim isn't a "Pocket" PC anymore.
I plan to use the big battery when I travel out west and use the Axim as a tour guide.
Daily use? I don't think so.

i would be interested in the previous reply's usage pattern your statement is quite vague i could go for a week without recharging or more with light use and brightness and no accessories !

true is does add considerable bulk but you can never have enough power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Total daily usage would have been less than one hour. The battery meter never moved off of full.
If I didn't put it on the charger overrnight, it would say it was "dangerously low" and give me the warning screen in the morning. I even checked to see if any programs were running before I set it down and it didn't matter.
It only indicated two battery conditions: Full or "dangerously low."

I have two standard batteries. I frequently go a week without charging and without it getting low, but that use is sporatic. I used it at a class I went to. I got 6+ hours of use each day, with it set to dim after 30 seconds. The charge only went to 50-60%. I used it with the regular battery for something like 5 hours playing MP3's before it died on my last flight.
