Hi, I seem to have a dead area a couple of centimeters from the top of my palm screen in the middle. Its about 3 centimetres squared. If there is a button in this dead area and i click 1.5cm higher up on the screen, it thinks i am pressing in the dead area. Screen itself is fine just the touch sensitivity. Could this be that for one reason or other the ribbon has slipped up at the top of the screen??
Thanks 4 your help in advance
Dave:confused:

It is possible that what you are experiencing is related to the ribbon cable that connects the digitizer/screen to the mother board. If you have a small Philips screw driver and are cautious not to loose the screws you can take the back off of the palm. Be very careful of the power supply as high voltage is not a joke. Make sure the cable is pushed tight to the mother board. Put the screws back in the right locations.

Thanks DrMud.
The above picture i drew in paint to show what happened on my palm when i drew straight lines in the program sketcher. I am slightly worried to take my palm apart but i guess i'll have to !!! I can't access a button in sheet to go thats in the dead area or part of the menu..

Since you have reservations about disasembling your Palm you may want to consider sending your Palm to Palm Medic or STNE. Both offer good service and very reasonable prices. Email then with your problem and let them offer advice and prices.

Hi Dave,

Just my 2 cents worth. Picked up this little nugget of info from a tech site, take care!

WARNING: The high voltage sign inside the PalmIIIc is no joke! The backlight works with a voltage of over 800Vpp and you don't want to make physical contact with such a high voltage!
And yet anouther warning: Don't try to check that voltage with an average DMM! The output of the high voltage generator is quite high impedance and you might ruin it with an average DMM!
