More feedback on the 7135, just got my new toy today except that I can only use the speaker phone to make/receive phone calls. I have zero, zilch, no sound when I turn the speaker phone off. Purchased from a Radio Shack in a small town in Michigan with Alltel, they tell me I'll have a new one early next week.. A very businesslike person at Kyocera walked me thru diagnostics (soft and hard reset) with no change on the problem. Gee, did I have anything else to do this afternoon?? The staffer at Radio Shack didn't test the phone; I think she was just happy to get it programmed and me out of there as she wasn't sure how to use the phone.

Dear catslikemice:
Get a new phone if you think it's defective and take the phone to the service provider to set it up and test it. I would never have any vendor setup my phone if they're not the service provider of your wireless plan. I have a Sprintpcs Samsung I330 that I would never take to Fry's Electronics for anything other than warranty stuff. Even some sprint sales people don't know how to operate their phones. They don't get paid enough to know anything other than selling them and or activating phones. Take your phone to a qualified tech of the service provider.
You've got a nice phone thought. I hope you get some good service out of it. You won't how good it is until you're up and running.

Picked up replacement for first 7135 last Friday but am experiencing problems with the pda screen not lighting up when the clam shell is opened. Do they send these lemons to rural areas thinking that we just fell off the technological turnip truck? Will be requesting a second replacement tomorrow. I am trying very hard to be nice as I love this phone/pda combo but will not settle for less than perfect performance as these babies are too expensive. Anyone else drinking lemon-aid out there?

I don't have this phone but it sound like you've discovered a bad shipment. Don't give up yet. Try using the software that comes with the phone first only. Don't use your old software yet. Maybe you have to reset your phone and load all the factory software on again. I've crashed my phone several times because of incompatible software. Software that has not been tested on a computer can crash the computer and there will be nothing but a blank screen. At worst, maybe the third 7135 phone will work perfectly. I have a story. When I bought my Sanyo 4900 from Sprint I was determined to try out the new Samsung I330 but the Sprint salesman said people were complaining about this phone. I decided to try one out because I ran across a good deal and I had 15 days to try it. If I didn't like it, I could return it for a full refund. I'm not sorry that I bought this phone. It doesn't do one thing that my Kyocera 6035 does now but I can live with this. I've stuck with it to discover how it works.
Good Luck

I am only using the software that came with the phone, no add ons, no old software, nothing new other than the cd that was in the box. This is my first foray into palm land, but when I did it, I went for the gusto and got the phone/pda combo. I'm just going thru phones like buddah....and objectively recording the experience so all may go into this eyes wide open. For the record, I'm definitely not a basher...I love this combo and want it to work. Thankfully my hometown Radio Shack has great service and they want me to be happy (we have many phones thru them for our business).
