I have a 4MB mp3 file on my ipaq under My Documents that I am unable to delete. I have verified that there are no running programs (both with iTask and Settings | system | memory | running programs). If I try to play the MP3, windows media player says it is not a valid file or the file cannot be found; and if I try to delete it, the message is Access Denied (or the file is read-only, etc).

I've tried to delete/rename/cut+paste. I've connected from my desktop to the ipaq (w/ explore button in activesync) and try to delete the file, same error.

any help would be great. with a limited amount of memory available would really like to delete this file.

thank you

Hi, I am not sure if this would work with you. Apparently I found some problems like you have when I first played with my 3850. The thing I did was to use the Startap explorer nicely put in the installation cd. In explorer you should be able to change the attribute of the file and be able to delete it. You probably have copied the file directly from CD reason for it to have the readonly attribute. I also suggest that you instead use Windows Media player in your PC to convert the MP3's to wma since anyway ipaq playing the sound file should just be enough in wma format and your headset.

Try doing a soft reset, then delete the file befor syncing with your desktop.

Thanks for your suggestions. As it turns out I found the ROM update at Compaq (HP's) site and applied it, as a part of that it forces a hard-reset, losing all info. So, in a round-about way, my problem is solved. But for next time I will check out the app you suggested as well as trying a soft reset then delete before synch.

Thanks again.
