According to my service provider, the internal lithium battery on the 950's can die and when it dies, the unit is pretty much useless.
To determine if the internal battery is dead, I was told to press "alt Cap B" simultaneously. If the Battery line had "RstTx" after the V then the internal battery is kaput.

I know how to recharge the internal battery with a fresh AA battery. However, I was told if the internal status showed "RstTx" it won't recharge.

Does anyone know how to replace the internal battery?
or barring that where can I find a repair service to replace the battery? I have a large number of 950's and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

This information is not entirely accurate. If the internal battery is dead, the device will not function properly. It is the heart of the device. Do not attempt to change this yourself, or you will void your warranty and lose the priviledge of Technical Support.

My warranties have expired and Tech Support will charge me $125.00 to replace the dead unit with a "refurbished" unit. The replacement unit comes without a warranty.

I am able to find used units to purchase for a lower cost.

I am hoping to find a less expensive form of repair as more and more of my units experience the death of the internal battery. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate them.

Thanks for your input.

I've replaced my li-ion you have to open the unit carefully and take notice of where everything is and then delicately unhook the li-ion and then connect the new one its simple but make sure you take your time once its opened a rubber piece under the wheel may fall out and you will have to replace it and there is a plastic border on the back part of the unit which is delicate and is connected or soldered to the front end of the unit be careful not to pull this apart. Basically there is two parts to the unit the front which has the lcd, keyboard and internal electronics and li-ion and then the back end of the unit which is connected by a thin piece of metal towards the bottom to the front as long as your careful to keep the two parts connected you can easily and effectively change out the li-ion with a spare li-ion from another unit. Still looking for more information on the internal specs of the unit so i can fix my backlight though.. see my post below yours
