Out of interest, what does everyone use for cleaning their touch-sensitive screens?

Windolene!

Yes, seriously, I use Windolene - but NOT the gungy pink stuff, the clear spray.

I keep a bottle of the spray in my room with all the "toys" and use it for the PC monitors, laptop and the Psion screens. I spray a small quantity on to a piece of paper towel and gently wipe the screen, then dry it with another clean piece of towel.

There is a discussion in the EPOC digest about this and some people are using iso-propyl alcohol, but I was once warned against this as it can have a solvent effect on certain plastic materials.

Well, as I'm sure y'all know, the official word from Psion (passed on from Toshiba who make the screens) is 'water only'.

On my 5mx, I have used sme water-based spectacle cleaner - I'll have a look at it and see what it contains. This same stuff used on the netBook screen did have a very slight 'dulling' effect on the plastic, Toshiba's caution is evidently well-placed.

I keep a screen protector on, but when it is off I wipe with tissue until any dirt is gone. If I need something wet for a more stubborn spot I use a dab of water.

Yes, that discussion is rather what triggered this topic. I have always subscribed to the "water only" principle, but it's not always enough. My netBook screen is messy at the moment. I've been tempted to use NilGlass - my equivalent to Mike's Windolene - but chickened out.

I've got some iso-propyl alcohol, but never been too sure about that either.

Anyhow, at least I've managed to get rid of the candle wax from the keyboard (don't ask!!!) ;)

I use normal VDU cleaner such as Safeclens. At work we have those sachets so after I have done my VDU I run the cloth over my Psion before chucking it. Had no problems on either my 5mx or & 7 or previous 5Series. Must have been doing it for 4-5 years now.

In my opinion and from past work related experiences..............
The warnings on the effects of iso-prophyl are true. It can dull or stain a screen. It can remove certain properties from a screen or even leave embedded streaks. I wouldn't use it on any screen.
The best advice I can offer is a moist tissue with water. To dry it use the same. Paper towels seem to be too abrasive.
There are some moist wipes sold in supermarkets that are alcohol free and non scented. They work well and are a good choice.
Candle wax on the keyboard, the thought of it makes me shiver. I won't ask Julie.
