can you switch to a b&w mode to save on the battery life?

It probably depends on the app, most downloads are available in different modes, just load the gray scale version (b/w) of what ever app you want, and I am not sure whether the battery usage will matter that much. If you have a color model, most likely it has been maximized for the best battery consumption possible, I really dont think that running it in grayscale will mean that much..:)
