I have a samsung 8MB compact flash card. How do I make my Philips Nino recognize the card?

When I plug it in (while the system is on), I get an acknoledgement of a card in slot 1. It prompts me that the card will take power from the battery. And that's all I get. I have no other changes/options to access the card from Windows CE programs or otherwise.

Does anyone use a CF card with the Nino. Can you explain what is supposed to happen?

I have managed to put 2 different cards in my nino 300's with out problems ...

when it asks about bat power click yes ... you will not be able to see the cards with the reg nino unit file viewer ...

you must look at it via the sync software (now is the time to up grade your sync software )

once you have opened it from your pc you can create a folder on the ramcard and make a shortcut to it... then move this short cut to what ever section you want .. say a notes directory call newnotes to the notes folder under your pocket pc folder ...

I am sorry I am not at home to do this step by step for you but lets see may be my memory will work ...

I was able to set up my card to run programs off of (I have a 8 meg card in one and an 80meg in another ) by loading the program into the card with it hooked to my laptop, then creating a shortcut to the program, then moving that shortcut to the programs folder under the start folder .... be aware that there is a higher level programs menu where you can put a program you want to store on the internal ram ...you still have to create a shortcut and put it in the start folder under programs to get it to show up an run ...

a bit of a pain ..but does work ...

hope this helps ...

Thanks for the reply. I also have a Nino 300.

I plug in the card and get the prompt as you described. When I go to the Mobile Computer explorer, there is no new folder or icon to indicate the ram is present.

I have the most recent version of Active Sync. What should I be looking for? There doesn't appear to be any link to the Compact Flash card in the explorer windows on my Desktop computer while the Nino is connected.

I am at work now and don't have a way to pull up mine and look at it ... but I used explorer on the mobile computer icon to see it ... not sure what is going on for you ... I have a bunch of 300s that I am playing with and will try to remember to set one up tonight and see just how i did it ... then let you know ... by the way I downloaded a program called DTREE and it gives you a director lister right on the 300 ...very neat..
