Thought it was about time this forum got going, so I decided to bully Expansys a little about the Sony Ericsson P800, supposedly due "Q3 2002".
Here is their reply:
"Many thanks for your enquiry, unfortunately I do not have a shipment date on the P800 - they are out on pre-release which means we are just awaiting information from our suppliers. Best thing to do is keep your eyes posted on our webpage , as soon as they are in, our site will be immediately updated. Roughly you are going to be looking at next month."
So, anyone here got one of these on pre-order? Anyone planning to get one?
Here's the link to some info on the device, for anyone who hasn't explored it yet:

My contract runs out in a couple of months and I will be looking for a new phone then. Must have IRDA (for my Psion, of course) and would be nice if it had HSCSD or GPRS. I assume both of these will work over IRDA with the Netbook OS? Stiil no knews on compatible bluetooth for the Netbook/7?
Was thinking more of the T68i as this looks a little smaller than the P800. Either way I bet this phone will be pricey !! Might go for the cheapest HSCSD/GPRS tariff I can get then buy an unlocked T68i from Ebay !!! Cheap as chips here !! (I should really get a job with them)

Yes, you can be certain the P800 will be pricey - depends whether you will need/use the PDA functions, camera etc. For me, I would be unlikely to, therefore it's not on my personal shopping list.
Sounds as if you, like me, just need a good phone that will co-operate with your Psions. T68i would be a great choice. I actually chose the Ericsson R520m as I find the T68i a bit small, I didn't really need a colour screen, and it was a lot cheaper.
It's a great phone - co-operates perfectly with the Psions over GPRS or GSM and does everything I need. 17 days away recently, and total independence from PC!
Mind you, when the P800 does come out, maybe I will be beguiled. ;)
What does anyone else think?

I LOVE the look/feel/features of the P800, its not from the Microsoft of phone manufacturers (Nokia) and its Symbian too which is icing on't'cake.
The drawback? It prob'ly won't ship 'til next year. Check...

There is something about a colour screen (Seimens S25 has a 4 colour screen....well its sort of colour), but like you I too want easy and reliable mobile connection. At least I know where to come when I want some help setting up my GPRS settings !!!
Which tariff are you with? What sort of deal did you get? (mind you, I think we may be moving off topic.....ssshhhh don't tell the moderators........what do you mean you are a moderator....DOH!!)
