Palm IIIc charging problems?

Anyone heard of this one?

For some reason my faithful palm refuses to charge UNLESS it is left on. When the Auto-off kicks in the charging light goes out.

I've tried it in the cradle and with my travel charger, both times the same thing happened.

I've looked back at the archive but I couldn't find a thread with this exact problem. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Try a battery reset i.e. perform a warm rest of your palm when it is in the cradle, then shutoff and leave it alone for a couple of hours. This should reset your battery/ voltage meter settings.
