pc to palm (sd card) transfer compression

when files are x-fered from my pc to the palm it takes forever. I wonder it there is a program which would compress the files on the pc end and then uncompress them on the palm end...does anyone offer something like this?

It would be much cheaper to just get a USB flash card reader/writer ($10-$20, depends on number of flash cards it supports).

yeah i guess you're right...I was hoping there was some shareware program or something like that (which would be cheaper)
