Hi

I'm planning to buy the Zire for myself this Saturday, the Zire because it's all I can afford and it will be my first pda.

I want to be able to read fan fiction on it, and I'm going to want to convert html, plain text, word files to a format that works with the palm applications that are readers myself. (Some converter which is mac compatable for OS X)

I've been looking around on the net for what sort of reader I could put on the Zire (I was thinking the 'tiny book reader lite'?). But with all this searching around on the net, I'm just getting more confused. What is the type of files that these doc readers understand? Is it all the same for all of them? (pdb??)

Could someone help with making it more clearer for me?

Your best best is Qvadis Express Reader GT (http://www.qvadis.com), which is still one of the most compact ebook readers around (about 65 kB). They also have a PC-side converter (usable with an emulator on the Mac) which converts Word, text, and Web (html) files to readable format.

They have a libary on their site with about 7,000 free ebooks in what's known as PalmDoc format, one of the two industry standards (the other being Palm's own PalmReader standard).
