I cannot play any mp3's or wma's music files on my e310. Says it can't find a license. These are songs from my own paid for CD's, some old and some new, not downloaded from the internet.
How can I get them to play?

Any help you can offer would be more than welcome and appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm starting to not be real happy with this unit. Seems to require a lot of time and maintenance. It's only 2 wks old. I should've gotten the Palm OS.

Make sure that when you "RIP" the tracks in WMP, or another ripper that you don't have the "protect content" option checked, in the options dialog box. If you do, then it will require a license to play on each desktop computer or device.

Content protection was not selected in any of my ripping. The music files play on my mp3 player, on my desktop, in my laptop, in the car....On no other device do I have issue.
Anything else?
Thanks.

What program are you using to play them? Maybe the license issue is with the software not the files. I play MP3s just fine with Windows Media Player.

I'm playing them on Windows Media Player both on desktop & Toshiba PocketPC (well, obviously not the PPC but that's the app on it) and a Sony MP3 minidisk player. Can also play them from MusicMatch, RealPlayer, and a regular CD player. Everything but the PocketPC.
Aauch!

try a hard reset and a different encoder if that doesn't work.

By jove I think I've got it. I removed all multimedia players from my desktop except Windows Media Player and changed all file associations to match. The few I've tested have actually played! Woo Hoo!

Thanks to all of you who have replied. Glad to have it working.

Now, I've downloaded some NYC maps for Pocket Streets and they want to open in, guess what - Windows Media Player. I've fixed it on the desktop so that .mps is associated to Streets & Trips 2002, but can't find a way to make that same change on the e310. Perhaps a more rubust file manager?

grab pocket tweak. it's a free utility to change associations with files plus a whole lotta other stuff.
