Can the view be changed to view the file types?

Can the view be changed to view the file types when viewing files in the 'File Explorer'? How?

You can sort by file type, by clicking in the area that says "Name" at the top of the screen. But I know of no way to actually display the file type.

I installed a third-party file explorer from http://www.angelfire.com/realm3/alphabeta/

That app can show you file types, plus it has a split-screen explorer-like view.
