Active sync inbox problem

I have not used active sync retrieve email in many months. However, I have many messages in my active sync folder, both inbox and deleted items subfolders that can't be deleted. When I click on the message, nothing happens. I tried highlighting and deleting, and I get a message asking if I am sure. I click yes, but the items are still there. I also tried holding the stylus on the message to get the "delete" option. Again the messages are still there after click.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I have an ipaq 3835. Also, the question of how these items even got to my active Sync folder is also a mystery. I solved that problem by deleting and reconfiguring my other email accounts.
