Since my 2 years daugther was pressing the stylus too hard over the screen, there were some areas over the screen where the stylus was not detected.
So I did a hard reset but unfortunately I get in loop at the Align Screen Test. I stap with the stylus over each point but when I stap the fifth, I get asked for the first again and so on. (so, the iPaq is not recognizing accurately my staps)
I suppose the external visor has got out of it place somewhere or maybe the internal screen is sticked to the visor, but I haven't tried to open the Ipaq yet.
Does someone know if I can fix it myself or it's a major problem that needs a part to be replaced??
Thanks

Hi,
Don't know if this is gonna help you - but sometimes I have the same problem which I solve by pressing and holding the area just above the 4-way keypad(where the speaker is) and then try to align it.
If it works I generally then leave my Ipaq screen up (i.e horizontally) for about 30 minutes and it all seems to correct itself.
I know it sounds weird but works for me every time when I have either dropped my Ipaq or pressed to hard on the screen.

I recently had the same problem. Luckly I purchased the exended warranty and CompUSA replaced the unit. The service rep told me that this was the first time he had seen this type of problem with the 5455. Hope this information helps..

Your can probably replace the touchscreen yourself (difficult) or have it done for you for under $90 at www.ipaqrepair.com or other repair services listed in recent posts. It sounds like only the touchscreen is broken not the lcd otherwize the repair will be much more expensive.

hi steve,
The LCD is ok. My ipaq turns on and the screen shows the Alignment Screen test, but I get into loop at this screen (before I did hard reset, there was an area over middle where I stapped and it marked a little more over the point)
how difficult it could be to replace the touchscreen by myself??
I have a friend who knows about electronics but not about PDA's. With his help can be possible for me to replace the touchscreen without mistake?? or I have to use a repair service anyway ??
(unfortunately I live at Peru and there are not any repair service for PDA's here)
thanks
Charlie
