Just purchased my first PDA (Handspring VisorPro) mainly for keeping a record of all my families present appointments as well as previous years appointments (i.e. Doctor, Dental, Hair, Auto, Ski Lessons, School Play, etc.). Looking for a program whereby you could
1. enter appointments on a monthly calendar view of individual days for the month like datebook, but
2. appointments can be assigned to a category and even sub-category within the category.
3. categories could have a text name as well as icon assigned to it.
4. data entry can also be made from the computer as well as the PDA.
5. sort and search for data either by category, sub-category, date range, appointment name, or by any combination of these (i.e. maybe looking for all Doctors appointments for 2002 for Suzie when she hurt her foot i.e. Doctors, Suzie, Foot, 2002.

I've looked at various sites selling PDA software and have seen programs like Datebk 5 but from it's description it doesn't seem to have a pc application with it.

Any suggestions about feasible programs?

You are right about DateBk 5 not having a desktop counter part but then again it does very little of what you are seeking to accomplish so it doesn't really need a desktop beyond OutLook or the Palm Desktop.
DateBk 4(great on mono screens)& 5 are both excellent and would give you a small amount of what you currently have described as well as a number of things you have not thought of.
Catagories are possible, subcatagories not really a possibility.
The Palm's standard Find function is very good and can be improved with one or another of the add on apps out there. I have owned a Palm for almost four years, using Find daily, and the built in Find serves me very well.

Let me suggest an analogy between the Palm OS and an Elephant. Your elephant will accomplish the most meaningful things for you when your expectations are based on your knowledge of the elephant and not on what you would like the elephant to be.
Best wishes for a growing relationship between you and your Elephant, or is it a Camel?

I think either Datebk5 or Agendus would best meet your needs. As far as having a desktop companion, you essentially do if you synchronize with the Palm Desktop or MS Outlook. I would check both applications out and see if either of them meets your criteria.
