Howdy folks!!!

I've looked at all the threads and can't find a solution to my little dilemma.

For some reason I can't mount my Clie N760C (which was successfully upgraded from a N710C) onto my Win2000 PC. Why? I know it's not a problem with the Clie b/c I can successfully mount it on my old (Win98?) computer and transfer files to the MS with NO PROBLEM. But, with the Win2000 PC, no such luck. Hot sync works fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the Sony related software on the PC, done a hard rest on the Clie,.. even done a couple of rain dances. When I initially plug it into the USB port, the PC appears to go through the 'plug-n-play' installation and indicated that it is installing the drivers. I have a felling that the problem is with the drivers them selves ('Intel (r) 82440MX USB Universal Host Controller' or 'USB Root Hub') found in the Device Manager, but I'm afraid to mess around with them.

Anyone else have similar problems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :D

A few possibly new steps for your rain dance:
1) Before reinstalling, did you remove the SONY software from the PC?
2) Are you connecting the USB to a hub or two the PS directly?
3) Make sure your USB cable is not running too close to other cables. Watch the spaghetti!

1) Yes, removed the original software before reinstalling.
2) Connected directly to the only USB port on the laptop.
3) Cleared any potential spaghetti and still not luck. Besides, the hot sync works fine.

Does this mean you don't think the problem is with the drivers.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "besides, the hot sync works fine."
THe problem I thought was that the SONY DOES NOT SYNC with your PC running Win2000. Is that the issue?
I hate to seem dense but I seem to be off tract.

That's just it. I'm able to hotsync with no problem, but I can not send files to the memory stick either with MS Export, MS Import, or via file explorer. When I try to activate MS Import on the Clie, I get an error saying "Check connection with host". But, I can transfer files with no problem on my older computer. What's up with that?

Are you using both your old and your new computer to sync? Does this happen with all Memory Sticks?
