AM I missing something here? I have an IPAQ 3950 and a HP Photosmart 1315 with the irda port. I want to print a word file from my IPAq so I go into tools and Beam.... the IPAQ picks up that the receiving device is a Photosmart says it has received the file and is printing but as the file is sent the printers lcd screen goes black and it rolls out a blank sheets.
My desktop says the connection between it and the printer has been lost (usb connection)
Any ideas? am I missing a piece of software somewhere? lokked on hp site for jetsend but the page has nothing on it!
Cheers

Most IrDA printers like my HP Photosmart 1215 and the Canon i70 I have at work can only take Plain Text(.txt), and Jpg/Gif as raw beamed file. To print something with formating such as Microsoft Word, or Excel , you need to download a seperate program, such as PrintPocketCE which is what I am using.

Thanks for that, I will download the program you mention.

I guess thats useful if you need tp rint word or something, but it seems to have absolutly no option other than what printer, and black or color. But hey give it a try, free cant hurt if it works.

That's normally all the functionality you can expect for a print utility. It's your application, and it's ability to interface with the print utility that give you additional options.
So far I've found utilities to print word/excell/email (including hp's printing option), utilities to print web pages, but no one print utility or service that will print everything. Why is that?

Will that software let me print via activesync connection to my PC?

I know the PrintPocketCE allows you to in the manner of a networked printer.

Basically something like PrintPocket CE allows you to fill the whole page, or do a custom scale , or 100%, also allowing you to print excel , it's headers and so forth, the HP one allows none of this. Thus the comments I made. As per your question as why they dont do everything, its pretty clear to me, its the money.
They charge almost 40$ for the progie to do Excel/Word, but for customized image printing they'll charge an additional 20$, to do it all at that cost , would give a 60$ price tag, so they break it down, so its easier to buy one or the other, but in the end its still expensive for more of the featured ones.
