I suppose this is not an everyday question, but I think this subject may interest others.

I gave my wife a netBook and a wlan card as a present, which is currently pregnant.

She is a journalist and finds that the nB is an extremely useful tool for her job, as well as for her current particular conditions.

however, she is using it the less she can, as we do not have any ideas whether the battery or the wlan card may affect the baby somehow.

does anybody happen to have information about this?

Ok, I'll throw in my unqualified opinion, but first:

* I am not a doctor
* I do not research effects of radiation
* I have no expertise whatsoever with radio waves
* If someone makes life-altering decisions based solely on this opinion, then that person needs serious psychological help.

That said, my understanding is that the battery emits nothing, and the WiFi card emits less radiation than a consumer wireless (you know -- handset and base station in the home, NOT a cellular) telephone.

I am lead to believe that if your wife is comfortable with a wireless phone, then a WiFi card would be less harmful.

Usual disclaimers apply.

Have her ask her doctor.

I'd support what Marty says - a WLAN creates far less radiation than mobile phone - these are the only radio devices I'd be concerned about using.
