Since HP and Compaq are now joined at the hip, why can't we have an emulated HP calculator on our IPAQs?

You can. Try http://www.hp41.org/ for a free hp41 emulator or buy a 12c or 15c from http://www.lygea.com/ Other calc emulators can be found at http://www.lygea.com/

I've been searching for emulators for a Dell Axim X5 that I'll be getting next week. Since the HP calculators were so expensive, I decided to buy a pocketPC instead and trying to get an emulator.

they have emulators for your pocketPC, Palm or PC

if anyone else knows any good emulator for a pocketPC, specially a Dell Axim X5, please post a message here.

The emulators written for the iPAQ should work with the Axim and most of the the newest Pocket PCs since they all are ARM compatible.
