I'm looking to buy pda and the e310 looks perfect.
The only problem appears to be the lack of compact flash support.
As a newbie I'm not sure what I lose by not having compact flash.
Can anybody help me?
Correct me if im wrong but compact flash is just a medium for storage. SD is the same thing only newer. Since it is newer the prices are just a little bit higher, about $20 higher on the 128 card.

I would suggest that if you wanting to buy a handheld...for the money @ amazon.com they have a Toshiba e740 for a good price. You might want to give that a looksee;)

cf also can be used for addon peripherals. right now the only sd peripheral is a bluetooth card. most people really aren't missing a lot by having sd instead of cf, aside from cheaper memory.

At this point in time (which passes quickly as we all know) CF is more 'useful' because it can be used in many digital cameras and can be used for a Wi-Fi/802.11 card. Other than that, it is just memory, and I believe more power hungry than SD/MMC cards. Personally, I'd like a PDA that has both options built in!

According to the specs from different manufacturers, CF is a bit faster than SD. Also, capacities of CF devices are currently much larger if you care to spend the money. CF has good peripheral support.
I have the e740 and its really nice leaving an SD card in all the time and using my CF slot for other stuff like my Pharos GPS or different CF cards with music. The maps are large so having storage in addition to the CF card is great.
