I've had a Casio E-125 for 18 months and it turned itself off and would not turn back on. I purchased new batteries and charged them as instructed prior to attempting to restart my E-125. It failed to start. As others have written regarding the same problem I too was able to get it to power on for a limited amount of time by fiddling with the batterings and doing a full re-start. It doesn't maintain power prior to going dead for very long. I'm not sure if I should take this thing apart. I believe it has turned to junk as probably planned. If anyone can offer some help it will be appreciated. Thanks

are you checking your adapter. i had the same problem with my casseopeia e115. i searched and searched for the battery which even casio doesn't offer anymore. i bought a battery pack which works great w 4 AA batteries but it's bulky and you lose data when you turn off the batteries. i finally went on to discover that my charger/adapter that plugs into the e115 and the serial cradle was scorched by a lightening strike and it was not charging and eventually the batteries DIED!!! I took the adapter to an electronics repair store and for $15.00 they rewired the adapter and it works!!!! it charged the batteries and worked fine.(altho i have to visit them again because i think one of the new wires is bent and i have to position it perfectly to keep charging.) BTW: any one looking for a new casio battery jk210lt...i have a couple to sell! ;-)
hope this helps

I don't think it's the adapter or battery problems. I discovered last night that I can temporarily regain power by jiggling the battery lock to the storage compartment. Does anyone know what I can do to stabilize the lock to keep the power under control again?

I may have the same problem (maybe). Mine does that if I use the charger. So what I do is swap batteries. It 1st happened in Jan. What got it going again was toggling the battary switch to the remove main battery position and leave it there for a little while. I have a seperate BAttery with its own charger and when I dont Plug in the Power Supply to the Em-500 I never have the problem. I was doing programing and had plugged it in and sure enough it started happening again. You might try leaving that switch toggled or remove the main battery over night especially if you have the backup in place. If you have the same problem thats what gets mine going.

I have checked other forums and discovered many people with the same problem especially with the Casio E-125. No one can figure out why it happens and all have limited success in regaining power. Some beieve it is a mother board problem that Casio is aware of and is failing to admit. I'm starting to believe those people are right. It would be nice to amass a large group of unsatisfied customers and force Casio to remedy the problem. I'm not on a soap box, just frustrated.

I had the same problem with my E-125. I've had it about 6 months and then one morning it wouldn't turn on. Jiggling the switch to the battery cover got it to turn on once, but it went dead after a few days and I couldn't get that trick to work again. I contacted Casio and they told me to send it in. I waited about a week and was just about to send it in, when I tried turning it on and it started up! It worked for about a week and went dead again. I sent it in, and they had it back to me in about a week and a half. I've had it for one day and all seems OK so far. They didn't indicate what the problem was, but it does mention 'Defect code 12' on the packing slip. Anyone know what that means?

Mine is working again after jiggling the battery lock again. I wonder how long it will work this time.

You know, if you open the case and look at the battery cover switch, you will see a pin that sticks out the back and slides against a microswitch that is soldered to the main motherboard.
I'm not sure the purpose of the switch. It may be to prevent somone from inserting a battery with the circuit active, possibly preventing some type of surge, or it may just have been safety to the circuit to prevent accidental component discharge. It also may have had something to do with switching over to backup battery power when changing the battery out.
But the point was, for me the problem was with the peg being bent (I have no idea how) and all I had to do was straighten it some. It had a tiny crack in it and I just put some superglue on it and it worked fine afterwards...no more jiggles on my E-100.

Thanks, good info., the more the better. I'll check it and report back later.

The microswitch simply prevents switching on of the device when in the main battery position by intention or by error. So if this switch or the tab controlling it is damaged the device will not turn on.
Your backup battery is connected at all times regardless of the position of the switch. The "backup" position is simply to release the latch to allow the backup battery cover to be removed.

Hello,
The E125 and most of the CASIO HPC's have problems similar to this. Unfortunately you will loose any data you have input since your last backup with the solution I am about to give.
First, leave the unit plugged in and charging for at least an hour.
Next, remove all batteries, main and backup.
let the unit sit for a while to discharge any capacitance in the circuit.
If possible short the + and - contacts on the unit (NOT the battery). This will discharge capacitance in the circuit.
Then, press the reset button.
Replace the main battery and press reset again.
The unit should power up to factory defaults.
Replace the backup battery.
You will need to sync with your PC to restore data.
If this doesn't work, you may have a completely discharged NiCd or NiMH battery and it will need replacement.
You may visit my site if you need repairs or more information.
Thanks.
Tim
