Hello,
Some of the older Palm OS software is compatible and some is not.
What I would do, is install each older program separately. Then hot synch it. Try the program. If it works, great. If not, you'll know and remove it. Then move on to your next program and repeat these steps.
Another thing is your software may have been upgraded for Palm OS 5. Check with the manufacturer. For example, AvantGo has a separate OS 5 version and so on.

:) Hi Kev,
You are very welcome.
One other note, OS 5.+ does not support Hackmaster and its hacks. If you have a number of programs on your previous PDA that are hacks, you will need to update them to a non-hacked version. Check with any of your hack's manufacturer(s).

Hi Kev,
Basically "hacks" are little programs that allow one to run that goes around the Palm's operating system. Or you can call them "Add-on's" to the Operating system. To run hacks one must download a program called "Hackmaster" or "X-Master." Those are used to program each hack.
Basically Palm OS allows hacks from OS 4 on down. OS 5 did away with hacks. If you are new to a Palm and you have OS 5 you shouldn't have to worry about any previous hacks...because you jut can't run them anymore.

Not true, bucko!
Have a look at TealMaster (http://www.tealpoint.com/softmstr.htm).
While it seems that Hacks are on the decline, there are still old ones around, and even a few new ones being developed.
See ya!

Hi,
Really? You mean I can run my older hacks (like EasyLaunch) with Teal Master? This would be absolutely incredible if I could.
I thought OS5 didn't support hacks because Palm said so.
Lemme know just to double check...and thank you!

I, also, used to use Easy Launch. Great program!
Unfortunately, it won't work with OS5. Not because Hacks don't work with OS5, but because Easy Launch, itself, hasn't been upgraded to OS5 compatibility.

Hiya..thanks for the heads up on EasyLaunch...I even saw the warning on Teal Point's site. Do you use a rapid launcher in OS5 such as Teal Launch? does that do what Easy Launch does?

Hi lglasser,
Thanks much! One question though...is Teal Launch a launcher replacement (like Silver Screen, MegaLauncher, etc)? or is it a launch enhancer?

More of an enhancer. (I'm currently using MegaLauncher as my program launcher.)
It does have a pop-up Apps List, where you can launch about 10 applications. But I use it strictly for launching applications, etc. by means of buttons, screen swipes, etc.
Give it a try. It's completely functional for days/weeks(?), before you've got to register it.

Hi lglasser,
That's great! Because I use MegaLauncher as well. Just downloaded the trial of TealMaster. I'll have to go dig up some hacks.
I'm off to d/l the trial Teal Launcher!
