First off, thanks to Christak for the in formation to help me get my Ipaq repaired for the flip screen.

I have an Electronic Security sales and installation company. I am looking at using my Ipaq for keeping track of automobile mileage and service records, sales information, and service call information. I am wanting to use a cellular / wireless communications card to receive e-mail and instant message service call information. I know that I may have to obtain an off the shelf program and customize it to suit my needs however, I don't know which wireless service or hardware I would need that would allow me to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, CB

For wireless service, try either hooking up a compatible cell phone with a compatible cable or DPC (digital phone card) and plug it in a pocket pc. (As you may have already noticed, I enjoy plugging a cell phone to a pocket pc) You could also ask Verizon Wireless for their express network, T-Mobile for their HotSpots, Sprint for whatever they have...and etc! Couldn't you do the sales track and whatever you wanted in excel? I'm not familiar with the applications for handhelds.

I had thought about doing a simple visual basic / database program that would link to the Pocket PC. This would allow me to enter records and information as well as transfer them back to the main program or link to another off the shelf program. I used to work for a company that used the old Motorla "Bricks" handheld service call units. They worked very well in most cases, however, it used radio towers. I thought that if I had cell connection through the PPC, I could transmit to my own server and retrieve service calls and messages from just about any location. Just not sure that's feasible with the PPC.
