Now I know we've spoken about the netbook's dodgy microphone in the past - a la the good old "squeeze down HARD on the bottom right hand corner of the keyboard" solution - but I was wondering if anybody has found a more permanent (and more effective) solution.

I can manage to get my microphone back for a few seconds with this kludgy technique, but then it dies again. Obviously this must be something to do with the mic contacts, but is there any way of fixing it 'at home' without having to shell out for the POS/Psion repair fee?

incidentally, I tried lodging a piece of card down the side of the keyboard between the case and the keyboard plastic so that pressue is continuously applied - this worked for a few days, but then the problem returned with avengence!

Cheers,
David.

not sure without opening the machine up, but if the problem is that the microphone electrical contacts only touch pads on the motherboard, how about soldering long wires instead? The wires would need to be longish, so that you can still dismantle the machine later, but surely this would do it?
