It happens agains. The PDA just cannot switch off by itself after the appointment reminders wakes it up.
Today the appointment reminder wake up my 5450 while it was left unattended, it just keep on and does not turn off on its own. Until I notice that, it had already become quite hot, the battery was fully drained and it dead.
I try to reset it but to no avail. Dead, the 5450 was completely after only 2 months service!
There must be some hidden bugs somewhere. Any one can help?

Have you downloade the new Firmware. It just came out. last month. Also there was a couple of patches that were done previously to the update that have been intergrated into the firmware update. If you do decide to do the upgrade make sure read and print off the instructions and follow it to the "T".
Don't forget to back it up first. I did find that you can reinstall the backup but if you have put in the patches make sure to go back into the add and remove software and remove those patches.
Also the AciveSync was upgraded to 3.7 so install it too.

Thanks. I haven't download the new firmware yet. But I'm afraid I can't do it now as the 5450 can't bring back to life. I believe it need to be service before anything can be done.
BTW, before it happens, I also find that the WLAN is not working either. Whenever I try to establish new link, it went on "initialising".
Do you have any clue about what fixes were make in the new patches?

For the patch info Check Out:

First make sure that the PDA has recharged for at least 4 hours. Before turning on. (Make sure that led is lit or blinking next to power button).
Then do a soft reset when its time to turn it on so that anything that might be running will be turned off.
For the Wireless it sounds that you still have setting wrong in the IPAQ WLAN settings. Also make sure that the correct Connections has been set.

I had a similar problem with my 3955 after I first purchased it but managed to fix it without a patch by trial and error. Somewhat paranoid after this encounter, I downloaded a program called "Battery Saver" by DMD Software, which will switch off your PDA after 30 seconds of being activated by a prior alarm or any other program if you provide no further input. Now I can sleep at night... :D

Here is what I sent to Compaq this morning:
I have found out what is going on now. The Extended battery does work....but in some cases I have to do a soft reset in order for it to kick in and/or turn off and on to get the Expansion pack battery meter to work. Possible that a "patch" may be in order.
Time wil tell....

Concerning the WLAN set up, it shouldn't be as in the beginning it works. But lately it has the prolonged "initialising" problem.
My PDA is now in service centre that may take a week before I can take it back.

Does anyone have a link where I can download "Battery Saver" by DMD Software? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
