I have an IBM z50 with a major screen problem. A couple of months back my wife dropped my brief case about 6 in. from the ground. My z50 was in it with the hinge facing down. The case was made to handle computers but apparently not good enough. At first, when I open the lid to use it, I noticed a couple of positions where the screen would appear washed out/faded but at any other position it was great, as usual.
However, as time went on, this condition progressively increased to the point where the screen always appears black (off) unless a steady and heavy force is applied to the area around the track point buttons/wrist rest.
I am convinced that the screen is essentially alright since with the right application of force, it can be made to look normal.
Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem is, how to fix it or where to get it fixed?
