Confused and frustrated

So i am not sure if this should go here on the software area....BUT

I have a well working Palm VII... BUT when my batteries die and I hard to cold start the palm and resync it to PalmDesktop... I can NEVER get it to sync at all.

The cradle and palm always work after I get over this step but I have to uninstall and reinstall a couple of times before this works. The cradle is serial.btw

Other than making sure my batteries NEVER run out... any suggestions on getting this thing working. Currently I have not spent much time this time around on it... but I cannot get it to resync at all!!!

Ideas????

do a hard reset but this will lose all the info in the palm

this is dom by holding the power button push in at the same time push the resett in the back of the device for 5 secon then release the reset but keep holding the the power button for a aditional 3 second
this should bring it back to life
it is best never to let the battery die
