check out this site. It has inexpensive wireless systems, long distance rates, dsl. Maybe there is something there for you!http://www.ld.net/?bristow

I use AT&T Wireless (ATTW) as an ISP. I connect using a Sierra Wireless AirCard 300, which slides into the PC Card slot of my laptop. The same card also works in my Windows CE version 2.0 and greater devices (Sharp Mobilon PV-5000, others). This is a "CDPD" network, and gives about 9600 - 14400bps in most coverage areas. Cost is a flat rate of about $49/month for unlimited connect time. The latest technology from ATTW is a GSM/GPRS network connection. The connection uses a different Sierra Wireless card. I don't think that the newer card works in WinCE devices (it may with PocketPC). You get a higher connection speed (advertised at 56K, more like 33.6 in a friend's experience). But you pay for the quantity of data you send/receive. If you are doing a few short connections each day to send/receive simple text email, the newer system would probably be cheaper per month. If you are browsing the net for hours each month, you will spend more with the newer system. Another consideration is that the CDPD network has a different coverage area from the GSM/GPRS network. So one may be available to you, but not the other. Finally, ATTW will only be supporting CDPD for another 12 months or so, then expect users to move to the new network (and buy new hardware).
Other mobile phone service providers may have similar capabilities. Check Verizon and T-Mobile (formerly VoiceStream) in your area. A disadvantage of using ATTW with a mobile phone instead of an AirCard is that you cannot use an ATTW mobile as a "tethered modem" to your laptop. You can't dial-up YOUR ISP through the ATTW phone/network. The other companies do allow that (I think). You are making an ANALOG call when you do that, and ATTW doesn't like users doing that, I guess.
Another option is satellite-based ISP service. This is more a desktop PC solution than a PDA solution. It's like cable or DSL, but with no wires. It's the same general idea as a satellite dish/receiver setup for your TV. Very fast but you pay more than a wired solution. Earthlink is (I think) the biggest retail reseller of the available sat. network solutions for the "consumer" market.
Hope this is helpful. Good luck & would like to see posts of solutions found.

For people seeking wireless solutions there will be many. Some will choose solutions that provide the choice to interact with other devices. Some will choose solutions that are people focused. Some will choose device that are enterprise focused and others will choose devices that are both people and enterprise focused.

To have a true eWorld we will have choices that are centred around people and commerce. RAVEN (Research Advanced Virtual Electronic Nation) has spent over 17 years asking people what they want/need to complete the e-com circle. This information was shared in the beginning of 2000 on the Internet.

People made it clear, there are many other places to interact in our eWorld. While many organizations publicly explained that, they were abandoning the people to focus on enterprise. WE never gave up. WE knew that to have a successful eBusiness we needed to know what people wanted. This information has shaped we-com virtual wallet.

Many have mistakenly analysed technology without understanding the power of WE. The "belief" that keeps innovation real is people. WE need people to give innovation value. WE need people to give natural resources value; WE need people to give value to currency. People give democracy value.

For those that are just tuning in WE, WE is defined as, "wireless environment", wireless electronic and you, me, I; all of us.

Please continue to share your thoughts.
