I got a tungstenC yesterday but when I try to connect to a wifi netgear MR314 I can not get any signal (FYI I connect everyday with a laptop and a PCMCIA MA401 card) .

To test, I even disabled then MAC and WEP on both and went as close as I could to the M314, but I always get the same message. In this forum, many of you suggest to update the firmware, so I looged on www.netgear.com, but I already have the latest version from mid_2002!

Any help would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.

Possibly your WiFi on the C does not work, or there is something with your Netgear setup at home. I have a Linksys 802.1b setup at home, and my C immediately sniffed it out and hooked in, no problemo, I do not have WEP set up, as I see no need at the moment. I would try to get it to work first without WEP, and once that is done, you can then reinitiate it.

Thanks Don for your help. I also disabled the WEP, but the problem is still on. What make me fell that the palm is working is that when I do a search for a wifi network, I see a led that just blink once on the MR314 netgear router, so it make me feel that I just have to update the firmware, but their is no new version available! i will try to connect a public wifi to test the palm and if this doesn't work then i'll return the unit.

I have had the Tungsten C for only one day now, and I do own the MR314 Netgear, and as soon as I plugged it in, everything worked out of the box. I do have the latest firmware loaded on the MR314.

Make sure that you don't have access blocked by MAC address.
otherwise, I would think that is a little weird that it is giving you issues.

Thanks so much for all your help. I've just learned from the palm support centre, which was extremely helpful and responded in 24H(to my surprise having read a lot of negative experience in this forum), that the Netgear MR314 has to be setup on channel 11 on the WIFI router (default being 1). This was not written anywhere in the manuals, but it fixed the problem and now everything works fine. So again thanks to both of you for your assistance and enjoy surfing with your palm.
