I think my Zire 71 crashed.

Just got it on Monther's day. Working hard to set up since. Added Handyshopper and WW calc.

Apparently last night I didn't have it in the cradle correctly and it was down to half of a change this morning. I brought the cradle along to work this morning to charge. Have been taking on and all the charger all morning and using, seemed ok. Just took it off the charger again and everything is gone! It started up as if it was new!

Some background: My PC at home (5 years old) will not handle the Zire 71. I been syn either at my mothers or at my husband's office. Only been charging at home.

Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do? Return it? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a problem where I dropped it and lost everything. It was weird, but a HotSync got it back to normal. My only suggestion would be to take it to either your mother's or husband's office (preferably the latest one) and HotSync it there.

Why doesn't your system like the Zire? When I plugged mine into XP, it didn't even need a driver disk. You might want to try uninstalling Palm Desktop, plugging in the Zire to your home computer, letting it get installed, and then installing the latest Palm Desktop from www.palm.com

They might make a Palm backup utility where you can copy all the data to a SD card......

Did you try a USB card for your computer? Maybe your motherboard's USB ports are incompatible. Mine is made by Siig and seems to work OK.

If you already did those, that's all I can think of right now........ :/
