Anyone experienced in this field of study? I bought a 3Com 3C589D Etherlink III card for my Nec 770 pcmcia slot.

It plugs in, the device asks me if I want to run it off battery power, but I can't find a driver for the card. I went to the 3Com site, downloaded their WinCE driver that supposedly works in the 750 model and tried that, but still no good.

Any help appreciated, and anyone who has an ethernet card working in their 770, tell me what model you have and how it works.

I have and use a LinkSys EthernetCard, which is a 10mbit card instead of a 100mbit card. I've found from testing numerous 100mbit cards (including quite a few 3-COM cards) that most of them are not NE2000 compliant (necessary for using CE's default drivers) and do not provide CE drivers (or the drivers they do provide do not work or they only offer them without support).

I use this as my method of connecting/syncing with my desktop now, but also used it when working full-time as a second/third "PC" on the company network, utilizing terminal server to run NT admin utilities. It's the only way to "fly".

Since the card is NE2000 compliant, I had no problem with the "install" (if you can call it that). All I had to do was configure the IP number and mask and was good to go.

I have seen a shareware driver which is ne2000 generic:-
SBM NE2000 from Softwarebüro Müller.

I found this while looking for wireless solutions for my mobile pro 800. Either ethernet 802.11? or gprs, gsm etc.
If anyone has successfully done this I would appreciate an email with details.
