Hello..
Has anyone out there had any success with using a 3COM 3C589 NIC with their Mobile Pro 750C?
On the 3COM website it says it supports the 750C but I have been unsuccessful in getting it to work.. Is there a registry change that has to be made?
Thanks...

I was never able to get this card to work in my MP750c, even with the CE 2.11 upgrade installed. In my dealings with 3-Com on the matter, they told me that they do not support it on WindowsCE. I later found out that it is not NE2000 compliant, which is a must to use it on WindowsCE unless the manufacturer provides WindowsCE specific drivers (which is very rare).
You will probably be less annoyed with an inexpensive NE2000 compliant card, like one of the LinkSys cards. You'll probably have better luck with 10mbit cards being NE2000 compliant. I have found that most 100mbit cards are not NE2000 compliant because NE2000 is an older standard that has pretty much gone away as a requirement. For what it's worth, I picked up a LinkSys 10mbit card for less than $30 about 4 or 5 years ago, so they should be pennies by now. I do know that LinkSys does make a 100mbit network card that does work with WindowsCE, but I am not sure of the model number. It's about the same price -- $30.

Thanks for the reply.
I gave up on the 3com a couple days ago and bought an NE2000 compliant SMC card.
Not the biggest 3com fan right now...

You should have much better luck with the SMC card. I was frustrated in the past with 3-Com as well, because you can still find parts of their website that say they do support WindowsCE, but if you email their Tech Support with any problems or specific questions about it, you just get a very short email back stating that they do not support the WindowsCE platform.
