I've never had a problem using psiwin before but now I get an error during any conversion. It reads "Expdlg.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program". Any ideas before I call in the IT dept? IT have recently downloaded PsiWin 2.3.3 Build 149 on to my machine which is running Windows 2000 professional. I've also had some problems with copyanywhere recently (hanging up on shut down). The last piece of new software added was Eye-Kon (which nags me if I use the computer screen for more than an hour without a break)
Regarding the CopyAny.exe hang, yes, I get this same behaviour myself. It happens when CopyAny.exe doesn't shut down when the connection is closed, then another spawns when a connection is made again. The workaround is to use Task Manager to close down the process manually.
Regarding the other error, I reckon it sounds like a bad install. Get IT to uninstall Psiwin, then run the Psiwin registry cleaner. This is crucial! You can get it most easily from Mike McConnell's website (www.mikemcc.net) at the bottom of the Series 5mx page (the file is originally from Psion). After this all traces of Psiwin will have been removed from the registry, and its safe to reinstall.
The other possibility that crosses my mind (untested) is whether the rights your login has are adequate. Is your login an administrator to the local machine? Don't know if this is an issue for Psiwin, but there are many pieces of software out there that don't run right if you're not an admin - ask IT to log on to your machine with their admin logon and try the conversion from there.
BTW, Psiwin 2.3.3 is the right version to have - its the latest and the only one that works on 2K.

Well I've done all that and i still get the same error. I have full admin rights so that's not the problem.
what windows service pack are you on?
This sound like a Windows prob not a Psiwin/Psion prob IMHO. Try just copying a file to the PC, then close the Psiwin connection and use the 'Convert Files' option off the Psiwin group in the Start Menu and see if this is any different. If same prob then try closing all four Psiwin TSRs (psconsv.exe, copyany.exe, wprntsrvr.exe and elogerr.exe) and try again...

Thanks
I tried as you suggested copying then converting and that worked and then I tried the straight convert ...and that worked as well. So I guess, whatever the problem was it just cured itself. Anyway thanks for your time and suggestions
