I just bought my first PDA. The Zire 71. This thing is great. I'm not familiar with Palm OS and apps. What do I need to load from the Essentials disc to use Realplayer? I have a 256mb SD card.

Congratulations on your new PDA! :) The Zire is a great PDA and is one of the reasons I switched to Palm over PocketPC. All you'll need on your PC/Mac is RealPlayer from www.real.com Then, just add the Palm OS5 device to the list and you're ready to go. There's no HotSync involved, but you need to have RealOne running on your Zire for RealPlayer to detect it. Just select songs to be transferred over and hit Transfer. The Palm only seems to be able to play MP3 files (I'm guessing they're MP3-Pro due to the 96kbps size, but I could be wrong). The program will covert them to MP3 and then send them over to your Zire. It's great and RealOne will play your songs in the background while you do other tasks.... :) Lauren lextek 05-24-2003, 12:32 PM I guess my question is what to load on the Zire? I have the Real Player folder on the CD that came with it. It has a bunch of files .pbc things. Which do I load on the Zire. Real Player app is not on the Zire yet. lglasser 05-24-2003, 12:39 PM Rather that trying to figure out which files to load, let the Essentials disk do it for you. Entertainment | RealOne Player for Palm, then follow the directions. lextek 05-25-2003, 03:49 PM Got it all working thanks. I guess I'm spoiled by my iPod. downloads are sloooow. Sound is good.
