I recently purchased an IPAQ H3835. When I synch my Outlook inbox on my desktop with the handheld, I can't seem to open any Word documents that I have as attachments. I can click on the attachment just fine and it highlights, but there is no option to Open, View or Read the attachent. I have read the manuals cover to cover but I am unable to find a solution. Am I even able to open Word docs on my handheld? I would think so but again I am new to the Pocket PC O/S. FYI, I am using Office XP (2002) on the desktop so all software is current. Please help if you can.

Greetings;

Here are the settings on my active sync program and I can view attachments. From the activesync window on your desktop, click on options then double click on Inbox, the Mail synchronization settings window appears. At the bottom of the screen there is a box to check to "include file attachments" make sure that is checked and then you can limit the size of attachements with the box below. Just check that one and type in the attachmentlimit size. I have mine set at 200kb and have no problems unless the file is huge. Just click on the OK's to close out and you should be able to get your attachments.
Next issue, I don't want the attachments in my main memeory so i have the unit set to store them on my storage card. To do that you need to go onto your iPAQ and open your email. Goto Tools>options and then tap the storage tab and check the box that says "Store attachments on storage card" and you should be in buisness.

I was searching this forum and stumbled upon this thread so I thought since you have helped me in finding the Attachement checkbox, I would ask this question:

I am using a new Dell Axim with ActiveSync 3.5 and Lotus EasySync Pro 4.2. I can sync my mail messages just fine, but I cannot pull down any attachements. I believe it is the conduit from EasySync to ActiveSync that is not "downloading" my attachments into my PDA. Does anyone know of a program (If I have to ditch Easysync, then so be it) that will allow me to sync my Lotus Notes 5.x/6.x inbox WITH ATTACHMENTS with my Pocket PC PDA?

I thank you for your help.

Hi,

I use (Avantgo) Pylon Conduit for lotus notes on my 3800 and this allows you to read word attachments - although no other types of attachments!

try a 30 day free trial and see what you think.

You can get free pdf reader from Adobe;
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforppc.html
And the built-in picture viewer should be able to read bmp files.
