In many pleases I read : "My Ipaq died yesterday... ".

Exactly for how much time does this things work?

Ass long as you don't try to use it underwater, at 100,000ft above sealevel, or let your dog us it as a chewtoy it will last a long time.

PS. The term "died" often means something like "my ipaq won't turn on, maybe my battery is dead and i'm jst too stupid to relize." or "My ipaq no longer has any of my software on it, maybe it was that hard reset i just did for fun).

My 3970 is still "alive" eventhough my son gave it a very good wash with water and a bunch of soap

Gigsh; In all seriousness, your IPAQ could last years if cared for properly and it's not dropped, drowned or some other unintentional accident befalls it. Can you or I predict how long our current television set will last? Or we will? Like life itself, machines are unpredicatable, but your PDA will likely be around long enough for you to get tired of it and upgrade to another.
