I have a Psion 5 and have noticed lately that the battery life is getting less and less despite the fact I am using Duracell batteries and also it uses up the backup battery too and I end up having to replace that. I remember reading somewhere about this problem but cant remember where and what the solution was. can anyone help.
Thanks

It is not a problem I have seen with the Series 5.
Now if you had said a Series 3a, there was a very common problem with the lead running from the battery compartment to the machine itself failing due to continually opening and closing the machine. The design was improved from the 3c onwards and it really hasn't been a high profile problem since. Nowadays, it is the screen cable on the 5 and 5mx which seems to be the weakness.
Nevertheless, if you are going through main batteries at a much increased rate and also depleting the backup battery, which should only deliver power while you change main batteries, I would suggest you have a hardware problem requiring a repair
is it perhaps just a poor connection in the battery compartment? If there's nothing obvious in sight, then if you can wield a jeweller's screwdriver, there are a number of dismantling guides out there on the 'net - check my FAQ at the URL in my sig.
Before you go a head and do this, its probably worth backing up and doing a very hard reset (all batteries out for 15 mins).
