Wondering if someone can help me connect (to the internet) my Tungsten C to my Nokia 6310i using IR. I use Rogers AT&T.
I've tried the instructions they indicate for Palm 4's without luck.
Tried the following script
User name: any key
Passw: any key
IP automatic
DNS automatic
Script
SEND: atdt*88#
SEND CR
END
If anyone succeeded, please help! Thanks.

This is how I setup GPRS for my AT&T account in USA for my POS 3.5 PDA. Hope this helps.
In preferences set up a connection. I called mine "IR to mobile phone". Set the connection method to "IrCOMM to PC". Under details set the speed "115,200 bps" and flow ctl to "Automatic". The AT&T web site had a lower speed, but 115,200 works for me (YMMV).
In preferences set up a network. I called mine "AT&T Siemens S46".
User Name: a
Password: a
Connection: IR to mobile phone
And under network details:
Connection type: PPP
Idle timeout Power Off (shouldn't matter)
Query DNS: checked
IP Address: automatic checked
And I setup the script as follows:
Send: atd*99#
Send CR:
Wait For: CONNECT
End:
I forget exactly why I wait for "CONNECT", but I think it makes things more reliable. Also don't know why I used "atd" instead of "atdt", but it works for me (and is what I've seen all over the web - ie "atd*99#" for UK, USA, etc.).
Note that these settings get you onto the internet (browsing, etc.), but your E-mail app may not work.
I found out that it was easy to fix the Email issue, as my email client supports "SMTP authentication" (sometimes called SMTP Authorization). All I had to do was turn it on and setup the extra fields it needed . For one account I also had to change the mail server address (aka SMTP host, check with your ISP to see if this is necessary).

One other thing, you can use ptelnet (http://netpage.em.com.br/mmand/ptelnet.htm) to debug your problems. That's what I did, as the first AT&T web site said to send something before the "atd*99#" string. It turns out that the command they recommended causes an "ERROR" return from the phone's modem.
Or use hyperterm on a PC (laptop) with IR to test the phone.
in the terminal emulator, type the "atd*99#" string followed by return. You should see "CONNECT" or "CONNECT ???", then a bunch of "garbage". The garbage is the PPP communication.
